Lewis Playhouse presents FREE Ballet and Play 

Through a generous grant from U.S. Bank, the Lewis Family Playhouse at Victoria Gardens Cultural Center in Rancho Cucamonga is able to offer FREE TICKETS to underprivileged and low income families.  All a family has to do is bring in the voucher to get 2 free tickets. They can bring in as many vouchers as they want. They don't have to prove anything to them to qualify. The voucher is all they will ask for. They must redeem it in person as they to collect it from each family.  Click on the link to print the vouchers in English/Spanish, print as needed.  There are no infants allowed in the theatre for these performances.

Autism Society Sponsored Events 

As a response to the need for safe places for our community to interact with others who have similar interest, the Autism Society Inland Empire is looking into forming Social Rec Classes.  There will be at least 6 famileis required to sign up for classes.  You may download a flyer for the Social Rec Classes and the Gamers Club here.  There is no obligation, sign up to receive more information by clicking here:    

         

  • Art Class in Ontario/Colton area- Meets twice a month on Sat - $40. This is an introduction to representational drawing geared to the attention span and coordination of an 8 - 12 year old.   Students will learn the Elements of Shape and how to use them in drawings from a variety of realistic, abstract and expressionistic styles.  Classes will be limited to 6 students. Class is taught by Linda Cooper from Corona Monart   
  • Art Class in Corona - $60 a month. Meets 4 times a month on Wed.   • Cooking Class in Claremont - We are proud to announce our first Cooking Workshop at the Young Chef Academy in Claremont.  Class will be held Sat, Feb 27th from 10am -11am.  The first class will be Homemade Pizza (making dough from scratch) and Fruit Smoothies.  Parents are welcome to stay help.  Class cost is $20 per student, 1/2 due at sign-up.  Siblings welcome.  If allergies or GF/CF diet, please advise when sign-up.  Sign up directly with the Academy at (909) 625-7505.  This will be a monthly class, possibly twice a month if there is enough interest.  
  • Play Group in Murrieta -  Come join us Sat, Feb 6th at 10 am for a great time at Sensory Time's brand new facility which houses over 5,000 sq ft of fun in a safe, sensory rich environment (www.sensorytimecenter.com).  The address is 41421 Date Street, Suite 101, Murrieta, CA 92562.  Fun for the whole family!  We will have use of the gym from 10am - noon. Parents must stay the entire time and supervise their child.   • Gamers Club in Corona: Join us for our Kick Off Party on Wed, Jan 20, 2010!  Special price $15 per person/$25 for person & sibling.  You must RSVP. This is an opportunity for teens to meet  others with a similar interests – video games!  This is a facilitated group of teens and young adults (designed for ages 13-23) with and without an ASD.  Cost is $35 per month for 1 person, $50 a month for family rate (siblings are welcome!).  Cost covers unlimited PC, XBox 360, and PlayStation 2 gaming, 2 slices of pizza and a soft drink from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on the first and third Wed each month. All you can play video games for X-Box 360, PlayStation 2, Computer Games, Air Hockey, Foosball, Board Games will be available to play. Bring your own games or enjoy the ones there! You must pre-register to attend.  Scholarships may be available.  Location:  Outta Bounds Adventure Center, 2751 Green River Rd, Ste 101, Corona.  Call or email for more info.  
  • Pizza and Video Game Night in Ontario - $10 per person. Meets once a month on Tues.  at Graziano's Pizza in Ontario.  We meet one Tuesday a month at 6:30 pm to enjoy some informal time to hang out, eat pizza and play video games.  This is facilitated by our wonderful volunteer, Theresa McFarland, a special education teacher.  Cost is $10 pp for kids which covers pizza and tokens; $5 for parents to cover pizza.  Call Theresa McFarland for more information at (951) 536-6644 or riverbudy1@sbcglobal.net.  Graziano's is located at 3060 S Archibald Ave, Ontario.  Come make some friends!

Social Recreation Opportunties (Non-Autism Society Events)

  • Drama:  Corona - Christian Arts Theater (CAT) Special Needs Drama Group.  They are in need of at least one more student to hold the class. The Class begins January 4th from 5:00-6:00pm. It is 10 weeks long and the cost is only $60.00.  At the end of the class, the students put on a production.  Call 951-279-2298

  • Basketball:  EEK (Exceptionally Excited Kids) Fitness, Inc. presents the second season of basketball for ALL children AND adults with disabilities! New and returning players are encouraged to sign up! We will be focusing on learning new skills as well as playing games as a team.   • Horseback Riding: Double 6 Ranch in Apple Valley has a FREE program on the last Saturday of every month for autistic and special needs children. The website is http://www.double6ranch.com and click on autism day for more info.  Next day is Sat, Jan 30th from 10am - 4pm.

  • Legos: Open Doors In Alta Loma has a Social groups, the Creators & Collectors Club: (This replaces our Robotics Club.)  Kids get a chance to show off things they’ve made or collected.  Occasionally we have adult presenters who show off what they’ve made or collected.  Our goal is to give kids a chance to showcase their work, meet other folks with similar interests, meet adults who have turned their special interests into a career.  Visit www.opendoorsnow.org or email  contact@opendoorsnow.org for more info.
  • Play Group: Club Play Kidz is a San Bernardino area play group for autistic children ages 5- 9 years old, to meet in a home.  Parents are asked to stay and typical siblings are more than welcome to join in on the fun!!!  Interested parties, please call (909) 882-4499
  • Play Group in Rancho Cucamonga:  Jumping Jacks fourth Wednesday of the month from 6-9 pm.  Say Educate.Advocate. at the door and your child with special needs bounces for $5.  It is an event open to the public.  Must RSVP to Educate Advocate
