The Autism Society Inland Empire (ASIE) host and/or conducts various functions and events through-out the year at places of public accommodation. It is our desire  to foster an environment of flexibility and openness for all staff, volunteers, guests and participants of the Events. However, ASIE is also concerned with security, liability, health and safety issues for the individuals at the Events. For this reason, no pets are allowed at the events, except for service animals.  Notwithstanding the service animal exception, ASIE reserves the right to exclude a service animal from event(s) if:

         (a) the animal’s behavior poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others at the Events (e.g. biting, attempting to bite or otherwise displays actual vicious behavior, excessive barking not related to assisting handler, jumping at or up on people);

          (b) the animal otherwise demonstratives behavior that is disruptive to the Events (e.g. fundamentally alters the programs, benefits, and/or services at the Events); or

          (c) the animal is visibly ill/sick.

While present at the events, the handler (e.g. the individual with the disability that uses a service animal) is expected to adhere to the following standards:

          (a) keep the service animal under his/her direct physical control at all time by way of an appropriate leash or lead necessary to maintain close and direct physical control                of the service animal;

          (b) ensure that his/her service animal is kept clean and well groomed; and

          (c) arrange for immediate and proper clean up and disposal of the animal’s waste.

The service animal handler shall be responsible for any and all claims, liabilities, costs, losses, damages or expenses (including but not limited to reasonable attorney fees) for any injury, loss or damage to any person(s), entity(ies) or property arising directly or indirectly from acts or actions of the service animal at the events, and shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless ASIE, its directors, officers, employees and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, costs, losses, damages or expenses (including but not limited to reasonable attorney fees) for any injury, loss or damage to any person(s), entity(ies) or property arising directly or indirectly from acts or actions of the service animal at the Event.
